While the revolutionary concept of there being a recovery without employment enjoyed popularity among those who benefited from the good press they got for saving the country, that concept is now on the ropes. The managers of the recovery offered to take on all challengers. The Madison Square event shown above portrays the result and with recovery on the ropes it doesn’t look good.

Now we see on Yahoo News that our policy makers are going to think out of the box with reference to Afghanistan strategy. What they are going to do is replicate the successful bribery used by the Taliban unfortunately this will expose our personal to the same level of temptation they unsuccessfully resisted in Vietnam when we used the same strategy, sans thinking out of the box. As an editorial cartoonist I look forward to the results of the latest attempt of the bureaucrats to think out of the box, but as a citizen of what ostensibly is a democratic republic I have grave concerns about the outcome. Of course anyone could see there will be some state of the art thinking out of the box after this conference!

AND WHAT CAN WE EXPECT FROM THE ELECTIONS WHEN ALL PARTIES ARE BEING PAID OFF BY THE SAME PEOPLE?

The only time there is a clear difference between Republicans and Democrats is at election time. Then one castigate the other for the things they other did last year and the other castigates their opponent for what they are doing at present, but after the election they all get together in something called bipartisanship and work for the advancement of their careers and to pay back their big bucks backers.

The growing number of Americans who believe Obama, a Christan, is in fact a Muslim is no surprise to those who have read the results of The Civic Literacy Test.

If the new wave trickle down theories have yet to prove themselves it’s only because they can’t.

Even in these economically trying times Uncle continues to his banking, albeit a new type of banking. Uncle seen here at The Spank of America transacting business, of a sort.

Many are concerned that the rape of the Social Security  Trust Fund by politicians eager to be reelected has cast doubt on SS’s ability to meet its commitments, but maybe equal concern should be given as to how in the world the lavish retirement benefit package given to government employees will be met?????

No review of our current economic situation would be complete without mention of The Oily One. Above one of his followers espouses his continuing loyalty to The Oily One.

The only thing clear at this point about the American economy is that the politicians will continue to spend beyond both our means and imaginations.

Obama has brought us change, but it’s the kind of change we are well familiar what with having heard many times, “the more things change, the more they stay the same.”

Our Wars

     As Major General Electric makes clear the new troop deployments it’s not hard to figure out where we’ll be fighting next, but it’s impossible to determine where we won’t be fighting. Clearly with the projected deployment of 5,000 troops to South America we can expect some action there.

With the outflanking of our spin doctors and press relations people by those of our adversaries, possibly things are winding down in Afghanistan despite the increase in injuries and deaths.

Reenlistment figures are up and yes, there are people who would rather be at war than face the economic situation in the homeland.

No quitters US. Having lost the battle for the hearts and minds in Vietnam we will soon make good on that defeat by winning the hearts and minds in Afghanistan, or so we are told.

Possibly Obama has shoot his bolt as far as civil rights are concerned in that he has all the civil rights he will ever need. What he does seem to need that he doesn’t have is bipartisanship.
